Poste Restante: Who Knew?
We're making a temporary move and needed to send ourselves a bunch of boxes--books, clothes, housewares, etc.--that would arrive long before we do. Thankfully we have some generous friends who agreed to put them in their guest room. Still, we felt a bit guilty about sending several hundred pounds of stuff. Turns out, there's another "old school" solution: the poste restante (a.k.a. general delivery).
All you have to do is find the nearest post office to your new home and mail the boxes to them, addressed to:
Your Name
Poste Restante
The Name of the Post Office
Post Office Address
City, State ZIP
Voila! They'll hold the materials for up to 30 days. Pretty sweet deal, eh? Kinda restores your faith in government.
