Hey Baby!

For more than a year now, E_____ and I have been working toward adopting a baby. We'd originally tried to muddle through the process on our own, but the realities of international adoption and the insanity of Hurricane Katrina convinced us to go through an agency. We started down that path in late spring of 2006, deciding upon Ethiopia.

Just this last week we passed a major milestone in the process: on July 24 we were added to the referral list. Now we wait for our dossier to rise up through the list and for a child to come along who matches up with us. That's likely to take about six months, after which we have another period of waiting while paperwork gets shuffled here and there.

Needless to say, we're in a tizzy of planning and dreaming.
