Where's the Damn Mayor?!

I voted for Ray Nagin in the perhaps vain hope that the two-term limit on mayoral reelection would free him to make the hard decisions we need in the rebuilding of New Orleans. And I was happy to see Nagin's big tent politics after the election, bringing in former opponents Boulet, Couhig and Watson to lead his "100 Day Initiative Plan." But Nagin's been AWOL for nearly two months now. What the hell is he doing? The city is drowning it's defunct sewer system. The school system is unprepared for the start of classes. The electrical grid remains fraught. Rebuilding plans are up in the air.

To paraphrase the mayor himself, "Get yer ass movin' to New Orleans!"
